The castle, altered by Robert Adam in 1790, has a nineteenth century garden. Megginch was the family home of the late Cherry Drummond, 16th Baroness Strange. It is now occupied by Lady Strange's daughter Catherine Star Violetta Herdman and her husband.

Megginch Castle Gardens have ancient yews, topiary, an astrological garden, a fountain parterre, a courtyard with a dovecote and a walled garden with a long herbaceous border.
