Loch of the Lowes

A stunning nature reserve surrounded by breathtaking scenery and home to one of Scotland’s rarest birds.

Since 1970, ospreys have bred successfully at the reserve, raising over 60 chicks. The birds are at their eyrie from early April to the end of August.

The reserve is also a haven for other birds and woodland animals including great-crested glebe, goldeneye, red squirrels and up to 2,000 wintering greylag geese.

There are nest cameras in the eyrie and bird boxes, a visitor centre, and observation hides.

Off the A923, 2 miles/ 3 km north east of Dunkeld.

Car parking and toilets available.
All other facilities can be found in Dunkeld.

Opening Times

Hides are open all year and the visitor centre is open April to September.

Public Transport

Take the Dunkeld to Blairgowrie bus.
