Great Moor of Rannoch

This area really is one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe. A vast stretch of bog, moor, hill and loch with a wealth of flora and fauna.

To get a feel for this special area, take a short train journey from Rannoch station to Corrour then enjoy a gentle 8 mile/ 13km walk around Loch Ossian.

For those looking for more of a challenge, there are plenty of exhilarating walks up some remote hills.

There are also plenty of opportunities for those who prefer to cycle rather than walk.

Walks range from easy to strenuous and the area can be challenging in winter.

35 miles/ 56 km west of Pitlochry at the end of the B846.

Parking available.
A visitor centre/ tearoom with toilets can be found at Rannoch Station.

Public Transport

Take a train to either Rannoch or Corrour on the West Highland Line.
